What I can accomplish by year end?

Welcome to February! Resolutions have worn off. You thought the year would start slowly; it didn't, and where did January go? For me, February is planning what I can accomplish by year end. One resolution for me is to read one book a month. I started "The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson, and have two key takeaways. Discipline. Is this you? I am very disciplined in certain areas (fitness & health), and not much in others. As I considered the “slight edge” approach I realized I can apply my discipline for fitness to other aspects of my life. I know the “how” for workouts and food prep, so being intentional about shifting the focus I have in one area of my life to another feels less daunting. Rely on what has made you successful in one area of life to be successful in another. Take action. Daily. It can be a small action, but planning is wasted without execution. I’d like to do public speaking for larger audiences. Even 10 minutes a day learning, writing a story, or presenting a point moves toward the goal. Confidence and learning comes from repeating actions until there is success. Action might bring failure; that topic is for another month! “The journey starts with a single step—not with thinking about taking a step.” Jeff Olson, The Slight Edge
